The Wellness Center Receives Grant from Phillips County Healthcare Foundation for COVID-19 Relief
November, 2021

The Phillips County Healthcare Foundation held a COVID-19 Relief fundraiser earlier this year to benefit the nine non-profit healthcare entities that it supports through the foundation. The Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce that The Phillipsburg Wellness Center received a $1,200 grant as part of the Covid Relief program that was developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic which created safety, financial, and staffing hardships across the healthcare landscape.
The COVID-19 Relief grant supports The Wellness Center’s efforts in expanding its services back to pre-pandemic levels and ensuring the health and safety of its patrons. The health and economic crises over the past year have brought about many barriers that prevent local residents from living healthy, connected lives. With The Wellness Center receiving far less financial aid than the other healthcare entities, the Phillips County Healthcare Foundation provided the grant to support the Wellness Center’s mission.

“We would like to extend our utmost gratitude for the generous grant provided to purchase “COVID-19 Combatting Equipment,” said Bridget Babcock, Manager of The Wellness Center. “The grant for making The Wellness Center a safer place is very much appreciated. We are so thankful for the support and for thinking of us. In the wake of COVID-19, we have directed even more attention towards air quality, disinfection, and the safety of our members and guests.”
The Wellness Center was able to upgrade their air purification system, purchase a vacuum that has a “completely sealed HEPA system” which traps 99.99% of particles inside the vacuum, and purchase ultraviolet light disinfection lamps to use throughout the facility daily. The ultraviolent UV-C disinfection lamps are clinically proven to effectively kill and inactivate up to 99.99% of germs and allows for hands-off entire room disinfection and works to sterilize and purify the facility.

“The Wellness Center is a vital asset to Phillips County,” said Tara Overmiller, Phillips County Healthcare Foundation Board Member. “The Wellness Center provides an outlet to the stress and anxiety many people are experiencing during the pandemic crisis. We applaud their efforts to remain accessible and affordable for our community and in encouraging them to live a healthy lifestyle. It is our honor to be able to support them in continuing to keep their doors open safely.”

MAMMOGRAPHY GRANT

Phillips County Healthcare Foundation, a foundation that supports the non-profit healthcare entities in Phillips County, recently presented Phillips County Health Systems with a check for $2,000 to help fund the project of providing mammogram services at the Phillipsburg Hospital.
Providing local mammography services will allow for these critical, life-saving screenings to be more accessible to the community members of Phillips County.
